Sustainable living

environmentally responsible

Sustainability involves not only minimising negative impacts but also maximising positive contributions.

Our approach to sustainable development goes beyond traditional construction. By focusing on environmentally responsible housing design ideas, innovative building techniques, and eco-friendly products, we are creating spaces that meet modern needs and contribute positively to Tasmania.

At J&N Developments, we understand the fundamental principles of building a home with environmental features. We emphasise correct site orientation to maximise solar design principles, natural ventilation for a healthier indoor environment, and optimal insulation, thermal mass, and flooring choices to enhance energy efficiency and comfort.

GreenSmart Certification

At J&N Developments, our passion lies in building energy-efficient homes, emphasising environmental sustainability, thermal efficiency, and waste minimisation. We proudly hold a GreenSmart certification, and James undertakes regular training to stay up to date with the latest sustainability practices and building technologies.

Healthy Homes Certification

We build houses that look impressive and are healthy for you!

We have recently undertaken The Healthy Homes course, having us undergo a 10-week training to increase our knowledge of building with minimal environmental impact and high energy efficiency.

At J&N Developments, we are incredibly conscious of designing and building with the uttermost protection of our environment and your health.

Our team is committed to exceeding the basic standards. Just because something meets the 'to code' requirements or has been done a certain way for years, doesn't mean it's the optimal approach moving forward.

In Tasmania, we experience significant temperature fluctuations throughout the seasons, coupled with unpredictable weather patterns.

This means we are susceptible to issues like condensation and mould if materials are not adequately maintained and if homes are not properly protected.

That's why we've spent time doing The Healthy Homes course to build on our understanding of the most effective membrane system and effective ways to build for your health. This system is an example of how to shield your home from the elements, reduces operational costs, and enhances the potential for a healthier living environment.

Through every step of our build, rest assured that we will put in all we can to implement what is the healthy and safest option for you and your family (as this is so importance to us)
